Accommodation

Macromedia strongly recommends to stay in the halls of residence since it is not easy to find accommodation in Dublin and quite expensive as well.

Macromedia students are expected to reside on-campus. A room in a hall of residence will be secured for you as a Macromedia student. The accommodation consists of two twin bedrooms with a shared lounge, kitchen and bathroom. Ireland follows the American model and therefore students share rooms. If you have a specific roommate in mind, let the college know, but room assignments cannot be guaranteed. The administration does, however, ensure that only students of the same sex share a room, if you should have to share a room with a stranger.
The Griffith Hall of Residence has a policy that students must insure against damage to property caused by fire, flood or other accidental causes. Griffith suggests the company cover for Students, who offers this type of insurance or a similar company.

Health Insurance

Make sure to take out (health) insurance that covers your needs.
Please note that for Non-EU citizens a designated health insurance is required. It can be taken out once students arrive at Griffith College

Specifics

The college has three faculties with computer labs that offer the latest software such as 3D-CAD, Lectra Diamino & Modaris editing software, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. The spacious design studios (fashion students can use the in-house tailor shop) together with the on-campus accommodation, the dining hall, a library and inviting classrooms take care of all your needs. The tutors and students have contacts with local industry, including Avoca, Scott Tallon Walker, Louis Copeland, Primark, Royal Institute of Architects in Ireland, Styletext Ltd Dunnes and IKEA, to name just a few. Some graduates have been awarded national and international prize.

Academic Matters

TOEFL score more than 61 points

For the academic programme there is a required minimum of 20 credits and a minimum of 61 TOEFL Points.

TOEFL score less than 61 points

Students with 0-60 Toefl Points attend different courses at Griffith College and have to take some Macromedia Online Module additionally (see details below).

Macromedia Online Modules

During the semester you work independently on learning contents (between 9-15 Units), you get feedback and have interaction on a forum. At least three assisted chat-sessions will be offered where you can clarify your questions with the course responsible. The amount of work is calculated on a ECTS basis. 1 ECTS credit point corresponds to 30 hours of work. The modules‘ workload shouldn‘t be underestimated. Before the winter term starts an informative meeting will be offered. You will get all organizational information and details regarding exams. We strongly recommend to take part in this session!
